Arnside is the larger of the two villages, and is a largely unspoilt former fishing port with its own pier and promenade. Enjoy a relaxing walk along the promenade or take on the challenge of walking across Morecambe Bay, with its fast-flowing waters, quick sands and changing tides, accompanied by a Queen's Guide. Head to Arnside Knott for an excellent vantage point, more than 500 feet above sea level. The village also offers plenty of great places to enjoy some refreshments. Pay a visit to the Ramblers Café for a snack or a light lunch, Arnside's Old Bakehouse for a selection of pies, The Albion Hotel for pub grub and the Arnside Chip Shop for some classic fish and chips. Surrounded by woodland, Silverdale lies just over the border in Cumbria, and is a lovely little village with plenty of walks leading to panoramic views. Take the trek up to Eaves Wood's highest point, where you can look out over the whole village and even as far as Lancaster and Blackpool Tower. The Pepperpot, a 20ft tall monument built to commemorate Queen Victoria's golden jubilee, can also be seen here.
