In halls you will have meals catered for you. Flats tend to be self catering do you will be grouped in households of about five with a shared kitchen/living area. As a post grad student chances are you would be housed with other post graduate students so you would be among more like minded(? Mature? ) people. In university based accommodation they usually include bills, such as utilities and WiFi and throw in gym membership. So the headline amount may be higher, but there are fewer hidden extras. I found private landlords quite hit or miss. Some are lovely and genuinely take care of their tenants. Some will put you in a death trap and charge you extra for it. Also double check which campus your studies will be based in. There is at least one that is quite far out from the city centre so getting a flat on the wrong side of the city will add to travel costs.

So my advice to you is what do you want to get out of living in Bradford apart from the degree? Do you want a traditional student experience with the social life and parties? Would you rather have a quieter experience and focus on your studies? Maybe interact with neighbours who are students? I found a website here that might help.
